Staff and students at Evergreen Public School are having success self-regulating.
Sarah Ferguson, a Grade 1 and 2 teacher at Evergreen, gave an explanation of what self-regulation is.
“If a student is asked to go learn something new, they’ve never done it before, their immediate reaction is a stress response. They have to have some strategies to deal with that stress so that they can tackle that learning,” Ferguson said. “So they have to have strategies to deal with that stress so that they can get to a place where they’re able to listen to what they need to listen to, think about what they need to think about to be able to tackle the new learning and do the tasks that they’re asked to do.”
