Among my most profound learning on this Self-Reg journey, resulted after being introduced to the Thayer Matrix. It made sense to me. My energy and tension levels at any given point in a day is likely going to determine how I might respond when presented with additional stressors, and/or a depleted energy reserve. I took the opportunity to pay extra close attention to how I was feeling as my day progressed, the result is a somewhat simplified look at the Thayer Matrix through my one-day lens.
The Thayer Matrix can help us figure out if our energy and tension complement the task at hand or may be working against it. It is a handy tool to get us to press pause and restore when our energy in dipping and our tension is rising, or to maximize on flow states where are energy and tension are just right for what we are working on.
