When exploring stressors across The Five Domains of Self-Reg (biological, emotion, cognitive, social & prosocial), biological stressors are often the easiest to identify and explore.
This domain involves physical health, sleep, nutrition, exercise, and various aspects of maintaining energy, including the role the nervous system plays in regulating energy levels. Share below some stressors that come to mind in the biological domain. And remember to explore those hidden stressors that may be less obvious!
Today’s Question:
What are some stressors that come to mind in the biological domain?
Nervous system disregulation – for neurodivergent people, especially autistics and those suspected of PDA, often wrongly diagnosed as ODD. Also, trauma related nervous system disregualtion. This is a ptsd level biological response that can either be external used or internalized. There’s little support out here for this aspect for children and families. Polyvagal is a branch of ideas, but isn’t flushed out enough.
