In this thought-provoking interview with Susan Hopkins, social worker and school counsellor Joel Gunzburg talks about his journey of discovering Shanker Self-Reg®, how it aligned with what he already knew to be true, and how he integrates it into his role working with children, youth and families.

Joel earned his Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland in 2003 with a specialization in working with children and families. In 2006, he opened his private practice providing a wide scope of individual and group clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. He also serves as the Lower School counsellor at Sandy Spring Friends School.

By creating a safe and nurturing space for students to express their emotions and concerns, Joel witnessed a profound transformation in their engagement, self-regulation, confidence and overall well-being. Joel’s experiences demonstrate how Self-Reg can positively impact student-teacher/adult relationships, fostering mutual understanding and trust.

Join Susan as she chats with Joel about his own Self-Reg journey and how mindfulness played such an important part.
