You Do Not Have to Figure This Out Alone

There is something that happens in the first hour of the Self-Reg Summer Symposium that is hard to describe if you have not been there.

You walk into a room, or you open your laptop if you are joining online, and you realize very quickly that the people around you already understand what you are talking about. You do not have to explain why a child who looks fine on the outside might be falling apart on the inside, you do not have to defend your belief that behaviour is communication, you do not have to convince anyone that punishment is not the answer.

Everyone already knows. And that is a relief that goes somewhere deep.

A Gathering of Like-Hearted People

The Self-Reg Summer Symposium is, at its core, a gathering of like-hearted people. Educators, early childhood professionals, mental health practitioners, school leaders, researchers, parents, and people who care about children and youth for all kinds of reasons, coming together to think more clearly, feel less alone, and do the work better.

Learning Self-Reg Through Real Stories and Practical Tools

The 2026 gathering is the 12th annual symposium. It brings together more than 25 presenters from across Canada and internationally, all of them practitioners working in real settings with real kids. The panels draw on actual cases, including examples of what worked and what did not. The workshops use real tools, the Stressor Map, the Self-Reg Portrait, the Co-Reg Planner, that you can take directly into your context.

And if you cannot make it to Peterborough in person? Almost everything is live-streamed and recorded. You can join from anywhere in the world and be part of the same conversation.

You are not alone in this work, you have never been. But it helps, enormously, to be reminded of that alongside people who have chosen the same path.
