Self-Reg is not the same as social emotional learning (SEL). It is not about naming emotions, but it’s about understanding how emotions can impact energy. The Emotion Domain of Self-Reg includes the ability to experience and understand emotions, both positive – to increase energy, and negative – energy zappers.

Emotions are our friend – they’re not good or bad. They keep us safe. Many young children find it difficult to evaluate and modify their emotions.

This is where adults who care for children can help by soothing the child who is flooded with emotion, and help them feel calm again.

Today’s Question:

What are some stressors that come to mind in the Emotion Domain?
