Even though the practice of Self-Reg is universal — good for all children and adults —its origins lie partly in research and clinical work related to children with ASD and ADHD. Thus, in education, Self-Reg definitely falls into the category, “good for all, necessary for some.”
All children need help with stress. But those with special physical, emotional or intellectual needs usually have extra stressors to contend with.
When you read the list, you’ll quickly see that many of them will reduce stress for both children and teachers. And when we reduce unneeded stress and help children manage and recover from stress, everyone can flourish.
