I’d Love To Go With The Flow, But What Time Does The Flow Start?

My husband and I have very different approaches to travel. He prefers an itinerary, preferably on a spreadsheet with as much detail as possible while I tend to have more of a ‘go with the flow’ approach. Did this cause stressors for both of us initially? You bet!

  1. I understand that differences in managing a situation such as traveling can cause stress in relationships. For me, it is about action on tasks or projects that we have noted as important. I like to collect or the data and equipment as I move along my week and as they become available. My husband insists that we collect everything first and work directly through the process from start to finish. The difficulty I have with his approach, is that he rarely wants to gather bits when they are available and when he wants to act on the task, the pieces we could have collected are not available, and the task is put off, yet again.

    • Thanks for sharing, Leone! It’s interesting how you mention the difference between your approach and your husband’s. Could this align with how personal Self-Reg can be? Are there ways to embrace both approaches? I would love to hear more of your thoughts.
