Becoming a Self-Reg Haven, doesn’t happen in a week or a month. It’s an ongoing process of learning, trial and error, re-evaluation, reflection, planning, and learning from experience. RADAR is an acronym we use at The MEHRIT Centre as the name of our planning process that guides people in the process of becoming a Self-Reg Haven, an environment where everyone feels safe in every way: physically, emotionally, socially and culturally.
RADAR: Reflect, Analyze, Design, Activate, and Respond
RADAR is a five-stage process that helps you with all of that, while informing your evaluation and decision-making. Our tool offers step-by-step questions for each stage of the process. It will help you tell where you are at on your journey, what’s working well, what’s not working so well, and what steps you can take to further your journey.

My son has been bullied for some time now by a girl, who is much bigger then him. We have tried everything with this young lady. Our school has a zero tolerance on Bullying, but it isn’t followed out the way it should be. I had gotten very upset last week because this young lady had crabbed my son by the hood of his sweater and swung him he hit the table in his classroom really hard, if he didn’t put his arms in front of his self, he would have hit his head. I had written a letter to the board because this young lady had gotten away with it again. I believe her parents should have been contacted and some sort of action should have been taken. I told my son to try this approach 1st when she calls him names in front of others, not to get mad or call her a name just simply say excuse me but can you please repeat yourself, this putting sight on herself. If she does repeat, simply say was that meant to hurt me or embarrass me and walk away avoid any conflict. If she continues don’t look at her and go on about your business. So far this has been working but it is still at trial. But she was interacting with him or trying to . A good start. So Radar is something I want to do and work with.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Bullying is a deeply important issue, and it’s why we’re creating resources to address it. I recommend you checking out this course offering to learn more – https://self-reg.ca/reframing-bullying/.
